Vietnam Maritime Safety Corporation is an entity under the Ministry of Construction. - Full name: Vietnam Maritime Safety One Member Limited Liability Corporation. - International transaction name: Vietnam Maritime Safety Corporation. - Abbreviated name: VMSC. On May 15, 1955, two days after the liberation of Hai Phong, the maritime safety sector took over the two largest lighthouses in the North at that time—Long Chau Lighthouse and Hon Dau Lighthouse—from the French. That day has entered history and become the Traditional Day of Vietnam Maritime Safety.

Maritime safety services are a collection of technical and support activities designed to ensure that vessels navigate safely and efficiently at sea and within port areas. They contribute to minimizing risks and protecting people, assets, and the marine environment.

Maritime Aids to Navigation

Managing and operating lighthouses, maritime channel marking systems, and port approach channels; managing channel regulation works and detecting new obstacles.

Hydrography

A specialized field that surveys, measures, and describes the physical features of marine, coastal, river, and lake areas. It is crucial for maritime activities, coastal construction, and marine environmental conservation.

Maritime Pilotage

With a long coastline and vibrant port systems, Vietnam plays a key role in international maritime trade. Maritime pilotage services are essential to ensuring safety, efficiency, and legal compliance.

Maritime Safety Regulation

VMSC is the sole entity responsible for regulating maritime safety for construction projects and other activities within seaport waters and maritime channels from Quang Ngai province through its assigned jurisdiction.

Hydrometeorology

The Corporation manages and operates AIS (Automatic Identification System) stations that provide real-time information on water levels, wind speed, and direction on the Hon Gai - Cai Lan and Hai Phong maritime channels.

AIS Data

Automatic Identification System (AIS): An automatic tracking system that broadcasts information from AIS maritime aids and vessels. It operates on the maritime VHF frequency band to facilitate information exchange between aids to navigation, vessels, and monitoring centers.
